I'm Yosra, a translator and subtitler from Tunisia. I work between Arabic, English, and French, mostly into Modern Standard Arabic and English. My focus is media and cultural content: news, political discourse, and social issues such as migration, where a wrong word can mislead the reader.
I have a BA in Translation and I've been freelancing since 2022. I started with direct clients while studying at university, and I began working with a translation agency in 2025. My recent agency work includes press releases for an international cryptocurrency exchange, education and public-sector content for US clients, healthcare outreach, and a UAE code of conduct reviewed over multiple cycles. One project that stayed with me was adapting Modern Standard Arabic dialogues into Tunisian Arabic for an AI training dataset, showing a model how people actually speak in Tunisia.
In subtitling, my work so far includes published research on subtitling Arabic political discourse into English, a full 34-minute interview subtitled for that project, volunteer subtitling for TED, and Arabic audio translated into timestamped English for direct clients. It's the part of this work I enjoy most.

I help organizations say in Arabic exactly what they mean. I work between Arabic, English, and French, mostly into Arabic and English. Education and early-learning materials, healthcare outreach, public-sector communications, press releases and marketing, HR content and codes of conduct; the full range is in the FAQ below. When a term has no settled Arabic equivalent, I research until I find what Arabic readers actually use, so the translation reads as if it started in Arabic.
I help studios, agencies, and creators publish Arabic subtitles their viewers never stumble over. I subtitle between Arabic and English in both directions, and from French, with Arabic right-to-left handled properly. On every file, I check the timing, the reading speed, the line length, and the cultural references that decide whether a line lands. This work is backed by my published subtitling research and paid timestamped audio projects for direct clients.
A careful second pass that catches what a first draft misses. I check terminology and accuracy against the source, follow your guidelines or work out the intended style when there are none, and check formatting and layout, including right-to-left checks for Arabic web content. Delivery comes with notes: the decisions I made, and anything in the source you'd want to know about, flagged before you have to ask.
Machine output can read fluently and still be wrong. I check it against the source line by line and return text that is accurate, natural, and ready to publish.
Clients don't always see what goes into a good translation.

I treat translation as a responsibility toward the meaning and the person receiving it.
I get properly informed about the subject, medical, legal, public-sector, or otherwise, before I translate a word.
I pay attention to the intent, the tone, who the text is really for, and what the reader should do with it, even when no guidelines come with it.
I draft with my own judgment and use AI only for terminology and consistency. If the source has an error, I flag it rather than translate it blindly.
Every project gets a careful human review. The final check is me. Delivery includes short notes: terminology decisions, flagged source issues, anything you'd want to know.

I translate myself. I use AI only as a support tool, the way most professional translators do, for terminology research and occasional phrasing options, and I keep my own glossaries and style references so the translation stays consistent and natural. The judgment and the final text are mine.
Yes. I work mainly in Smartcat, and I handle Trados packages through it. I can also work on client web platforms like memoQ or Phrase when a project link is provided.

Recent work includes press releases, marketing copy, education and academic reports, early-learning program materials, financial and compliance documents, healthcare and patient-education content, including speech-language therapy and early-intervention materials, HR materials, city and public-sector communications, and website content localization, plus Tunisian Arabic adaptation for AI training data. If your text is outside these areas, ask anyway. I'll tell you honestly whether it's a good fit.

Three things. I don't review my own translations when a project needs an independent reviewer. I don't take texts outside my competence; I'll say so and suggest a better fit when I can. And I don't deliver machine output as translation.
